Joe BarattaJoe Baratta (B'93)
Global Head of Private Equity, The Blackstone Group

Joe is Global Head of Private Equity and a member of the firm's Management and Executive Committees. Since joining Blackstone in 1998, Joe has been involved in the execution of Blackstone's investments in Universal Orlando, Nycomed Pharmaceuticals, Houghton Mifflin, Spirit Group and is responsible for Blackstone's investments in Seaworld Parks and Entertainment, Merlin Entertainments Group, Center Parcs, Tragus Group and ICS Group. In 2001, Joe moved to London to help establish Blackstone's corporate private equity business in Europe. Before joining Blackstone, Joe was with Tinicum Incorporated, and McCowen De Leeuw & Company. Joe also worked at Morgan Stanley in its mergers and acquisitions department. Joe graduated magna cum laude from Georgetown University where he currently serves on the University's Board of Regents and the Advisory Board of the McDonough School of Business. He serves as a director of Seaworld Parks and Entertainment, Merlin Entertainments Group, Center Parcs plc, Tragus Group plc and ICS Group. He is also a trustee of the Private Equity Foundation.

Phillip Fletcher is a partner in the London office of Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy. A partner since 1992, he was previously resident in the firm's Hong Kong, New York, Washington DC and Los Angeles offices. Phillip focuses on representing parties in the acquisition, development and financing of oil and gas, natural resource, independent power, telecommunications and other infrastructure projects. He has particular expertise in multi-sourced financings, including those through official credit agencies, the capital markets and Islamic institutions. Phillip has been recognised as a leading project finance lawyer by a number of journals, among them: Chambers UK (which ranks him among the top 100 commercial lawyers in London and in the 1st tier of projects lawyers in London), Chambers Global (which ranks him among the 1st tier of projects lawyers in the Middle East and as a leader in the African projects markets), the International Who's Who of Project Finance Lawyers (which has named him the "Global Project Finance Lawyer of the Year" for both 2013 and 2012), Law360 (which has named him a "Project Finance MVP" for 2013), Euromoney (which ranks him among the top 30 projects lawyers in the world), and Legal 500. Phillip serves on the advisory board of the International Financial Law Review and he is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations. Phillip holds a BSFS from Georgetown University, an M.A. from the Fletcher School of Law & Diplomacy, and a J.D. of Berkeley Law School.

Martin was elected Chief Executive Officer of Apax Partners in October 2003. In 1990, he co-founded Apax Partners in Germany as Managing Director. His investment experience has been primarily in telecommunications and service industries. Martin began his career at The Boston Consulting Group ('BCG') in Germany and left as a Partner and Vice President of BCG worldwide in 1986. He joined Daniel Swarovski Corporation, Austria's largest private industrial company, first as President of Swarovski Inc (US) and later as the Director of International Holding in Zurich. A graduate of Georgetown University, Martin received his MBA from the Harvard Business School and his PhD in Economics from the Leopold-Franzens University in Innsbruck.

Paul is a Managing Director and Head of the London based Bank of America Merrill Lynch EMEA Technology Investment Banking team, with 25 years of experience in technology investment banking and private equity. Prior to joining Merrill Lynch in 2012, Paul was a General Partner at Atlantic Bridge, which he cofounded in 2004, and head of the EMEA Technology Groups of Morgan Stanley and Goldman Sachs. He has been on the Board of Directors of Acision NV, Nero AG, Parthus plc and Panda Security. He has an MBA from Harvard Business School and a BSBA from Georgetown University.
